Media: Sporting is working flat out on the Ronaldo transfer

Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly still looking to leave Manchester United. The 37-year-old definitely wants to play in the Champions League – and not with the Red Devils in the Europa League. Apparently more than just a return campaign is dreamed of at his ex-club Sporting Lisbon.

Is Sporting Lisbon Cristiano Ronaldo left as Manchester United’s last resort? While the pay-TV broadcaster Sky and the Spanish sports newspaper AS already reported that the Portuguese would like to bring their prodigal son back, the French online medium footmercato.com is now reporting that Sporting would do everything possible to get the attacker back to take Lisbon.

Ronaldo played for Sporting’s professionals from 2002-2003
According to the report, Sporting’s project is difficult, but not entirely unlikely. The second-placed in the Portuguese first division season has qualified for the Champions League and would therefore meet the basic requirements. But the question remains how Sporting could financially realize a deal. Because Ronaldo is still under contract with Manchester United until the end of June 2023, a transfer fee is likely to apply. On top of that, the salary of the five-time world footballer would come, although he should be ready to make significant losses.
